Today, Design Centre is delighted to announce our partnership with the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland in their new #MadeLocal campaign. Amid all of the challenges and uncertainty that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought not only us, but our fellow creators innovating on the Irish fashion scene, this initiative has brought us excitement and hope for our industry. The DCCI are launching this campaign with the aim of inspiring Irish people to embrace all the wonderful indigenous craft and design being made on this wonderful island at the moment. It is important now, more than ever, to support your local businesses so that we can ensure our creative industries are upheld during this crisis and we do not lose our magic touch in Irish creativity.

In the context of the Design Centre, without the survival of Irish creativity, we would ultimately be without our heritage story. This challenging time has made us reflect on the importance of Irish design and what it means for our brand, whether it was the whirlwind of Philip Treacy debuting his university collection on our very own-shop floor in Stephen’s Green in the 1980’s, or the likes of Aoife Harrison and Deborah Veale who have shot to stardom and become key designers that make up our current collection; all of these designers and their local talents have made the Design Centre who we are today. This campaign is clearly very close to our hearts, and we hope you will choose to also buy all that is #MadeLocal so that we can continue to let Irish creativity thrive and shine and allow our nation to remain uniquely creative and renowned for this worldwide.
